Starting Over

My last blog bit the dust when we had a disagreement with our former webhost, so I finally got my husband to set up this new one for me.

The title for this blog “Bearing Reality” comes from my favorite quote by T.S. Eliot–”Humankind cannot bear very much reality” from Four Quartets. There’s certainly a great deal of truth there. As humans we don’t like to bear our reality–we try to change it, reimagine it, perfect it, but accept it? No, we don’t like that nearly as much.

However, we have to bear our reality such as it is. My reality revolves around some facts, but is not limited to those facts (my facticity does not limit me–I teach too much Philosophy!) Anyway some of the facts that make up my reality. I’m 46–can’t deny that one. I’m a daughter, a wife, a family member. I  teach; I’m an instructor as a multicampus-rural community college. I’m an unfinished PhD student (likely to remain that way). I’m owned by 5 cats, and I live with diabetes. I read, I try to write, I string beads, and lately, I’m contemplating working with polymer clay to make some beads.  Readers should fully expect these things to appear in this blog at some point.

Sometime this week I plan to write up some reviews of the two books I’ve just read–a biography of Catherine the Great and an urban fantasy. Yes, I know it’s Thursday, that gives me tomorrow and Saturday–see a topic a day :-)

SInce I still have those to write up and I have some stuff to do today, I shall leave for now. Or as Tigger says, “Ta Ta For Now”!
